I've got a cold/virus and my tinnitus is worse? – Yahoo! UK & Ireland Answers

I've got a cold/virus and my tinnitus is worse?

I've got a quite bad cold/virus and everything is clogged up?

My nose, ears and throat feel clogged up/sore/painful.

I have noticed that my tinnitus in both ears is alot more, noticable and louder? Is this normal? and will the tinnitus decrease volume after the cold has passed?

Also, are there any techniques I can use for sleep? I'm finding it harder to sleep at night because of it.

Lastly, I have noticed when I speak or say something the tinnitus gets slightly louder…

Thanks,
Sam

I HAVE BEEN TO THE DOCTORS ALREADY.

yes tinnitus does get worse when you have a cold or flu it may stay the same when you have recovered as it is caused by damage to the inner ear but you get used to it trust me just play some relaxing music like the sort you buy in those hippy shops like water falls and things it helps you relax and sleep and reduces the ear noise

Is it cold or hay-fever? If the latter, you can get relief by proper medication. If a cold, try some calpol in hot steaming water and a decongestant.
