ahh are you aiming to try that sound therapy experiment? where you tone down the sound just below the sound of your own, listen to it for about 30mins and it stops it for a few days?

    hyperacusis is different than tinitus.

    hyperacusis is being hyper acute.

everyone seems to be calling it the same.

this is bad because we who acually have real hyperacusis will be overlooked.

you don’t get reminded of a scar every single moment of the day. Espacially when it’s underneath your clothing. Tinnitus is making my live harder every day. But at least, i’m glad you can live with it.

Hyperacusis for me is discomfort when hearing high frequency sounds like brakes squealing or crockery knocking together

  16. formaset says:

HYPERACUSIS: These individuals have a collapsed tolerance to normal environmental sound. The term commonly used to describe this condition is ‘hyperacusis’. Hyperacusis can come on gradually or occur suddenly where the patient finds themself in a state of crisis. Patients who have a collapsed tolerance to sound need to have their Loudness Discomfort Levels (LDL’s) established by a hearing healthcare professional. To find out more, go ONLINE

I agree with Sokool001. Personally, I think everyone has a little tinnitus. According to a def(inition), if you go somewhere in complete silence, you will hear your ear drums or else. Try the country. Those drums sound sort of like the beach’s waves or sea shells. It’s hard to describe. A buzzing sound varies. I mean some buzzes people describe as long beeps. To me, it’s either the bass sound in your car, like a bee, long beeps, a saw with earplugs and muffs etc.
